A hike to lower lake two weeks ago was great for spring mushroom sitings and Oplopanax leaf bud collection(our only native of the ginseng family). These little shrooms look to be false morels-Verpa bohemica, safe to eat in small quantities.....I'll pass though.

Gulf coast oysters

I was listening to news this morning, and the topic of oil riddled seafood in the gulf got me thinking about my trip to Norleans this
last February. These half dozen oysters, from Acme, were so good, I ordered another within minutes of consumption. I hope to get a chance to eat them again on my next visit, time will tell us the full damage of what is occurring.

Grizzly

If I could find my usb for the blackberry, pictures could tell a lot more than I. (pics to come). So Im working in Dyea, and on my way from the horse camp to the dog-sled camp, a grizzly crossed the road about 40 feet in front of the vehicle. When I got along side it(not sure male or female) I got the phone-cam out and rolled down the window. It was about 40 feet off the road by then, it turned and made quite a noise, reminding me of my position here(not dominant). I laughed out loud because in its jaws were half a dozen dandelion flowers, a spring favorite come to find out. Left it to its flowers very quickly.

No more facebook share through blogging

I am tired of facebook suggestions, changes from original format, and privacy issues. So now I am going to try my own blog to share my pictures and thoughts/opinions. Just trying it out to see where it goes. Also I wont be tempted to play farmville, when I can do some REAL gardening!!!
